Collection Care – Conservation Maintenance
public art collection
Turnberry for the Arts & Aventura Mall
Turnberry for the Arts retained RLA to provide assessment and maintenance services for artworks in their public art collection. These contemporary sculptures and electronic installation pieces by blue chip artists are located throughout the mall site, particularly featured at the Aventura Mall. The site is heavily visited, especially during the busy winter months and well-meaning visitors often touch the engaging works, resulting in fingerprints, marring, grease and dirt affecting finishes and patinas. To maintain these works, RLA’s crew works night shifts, while the mall is closed to the public. The success of this ongoing collaboration between this private-public art client is a result of RLA’s extensive experience with a wide variety of contemporary artists materials and conservation of public art collections.
