Municipal Public Art Collection Restoration — Survey, Treatment, and Maintenance
municipal public art collection restoration
City of Beverly Hills
In 2012, RLA was selected from among a group of bidders to serve as the City of Beverly Hills’ public art conservators due to our extensive experience in municipal public art collection restoration. RLA performed an assessment update to a 2008 survey of 18 sculptures and new condition reports for newly added artworks. Prioritization of treatments has led to a design plan for conservation involving regular maintenance and addressing damage as it comes up. Treatments have included: conservation of a contemporary wood sculpture, ongoing care of a site-specific Yayoi Kusama installation, repainting of two large works, conserving a mosaic-clad specific column and dealing with the issues of public interaction with sculptures. We perform maintenance on a regular basis for the permanent collection.
